Ohio Patient: 20 Years of Stenosis & Leg Cramps Cured Overnight

Suffering From Chronic Leg Pain?

Neurogenic claudication and stenosis causing leg cramps and back pain don’t require laminectomy. Deuk Spine fixes it through a 7mm incision — no bone removed.

Summary

An Ohio patient had been progressively worsening back and leg pain for approximately 20 years. Beginning with mild lower back pain he initially attributed to fallen arches, and eventually developing into severe neurogenic claudication from spinal stenosis that caused debilitating leg cramps while standing, forcing him to stop mid-activity and brace against surfaces for relief. He had managed his pain with anti-inflammatories for years until gastrointestinal complications. Including a hiatal hernia and esophageal damage; forced him to stop even that. When a spine surgeon recommended a laminectomy, he refused. Unwilling to have bone removed, implants placed, or large scars and searched online until he found Deuk Spine Institute’s live surgery YouTube channel. After driving from Ohio to Florida with his wife for the Deuk Laser Disc Repair®, he declared his problem cured the very next day. Standing and walking comfortably without pain or leg cramps for the first time in decades.

Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: I’m Dr. Ara Deukmedjian, CEO and founder of Deuk Spine Institute and Deuk Joint Institute. I’m here with one of my patients who’s traveled from Ohio to Deuk Spine Institute by automobile, with his lovely wife. He came here after suffering for many years with back and leg pain. Neurogenic claudication from stenosis. And you had been treated in other places up in Ohio for years and still suffering. Then you came to Deuk Spine, you had your surgery yesterday and how do you feel today?

Patient: I feel good. I feel good. I can stand comfortably without any pain. And I was just out walking earlier and had no issues whatsoever.

Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: What kind of problems did you have before the Deuk Laser Disc Repair®?

Patient: Primarily, I got severe cramps in my upper legs both legs. When I was standing. I used to do cooking. I’d buy these Home Chef meals where they send you all the ingredients and the recipe, and then you cook it. And while I’m cooking, I started getting these cramps, and I just had to stop and find a place to lean on to relieve something. Then after a while it would get improved enough so I could continue but I couldn’t see doing that for months into the future. So I stopped that program. That’s when I realized that I really needed to do something… take some action.

Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: Yeah. You were suffering and it was getting worse. You had neurogenic claudication. That’s what we call that in medicine. You also had back pain, and you had been treated for years somewhere else. Did those treatments help you?

Patient: No.

Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: Tell us about that.

Patient: Well, initially I started having back pain in my lower back, and I attributed it primarily to when I was standing. We’d go to these flea markets and so on, and there’s a lot of standing there. And I started having low back pain. The only way I could relieve it was to just bend over and stop for a while. I came to believe that it was caused by a fallen arch, so I got some arch supports and different shoes and I seemed to get some little relief, but it never really went away. That was probably a good 20 years ago, and since then it’s just gotten worse and worse and worse until yesterday.

Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: And you had shots in the past and pain management procedures?

Patient: I did not.

Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: Oh, you did not. So what did you do to treat it?

Patient: I took a lot of Naproxen and ibuprofen. Anti-inflammatories. Yeah. I took those to the point where I went and got an esophageal exam and they said, “You better not take that stuff anymore… you’re getting an ulcer probably.” I had a hiatal hernia, and between that and all these NSAIDs I was having a lot of acid reflux, and that was causing a whole different set of problems.

Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: Yeah. So why did you decide to come to Deuk Spine Institute?

Patient: I said to myself, there must be a way that solves this problem once and for all. And I started looking diligently online, because that’s how you do it these days and I found the Deuk Spine live back surgeries and I started watching those. Along with those videos there’s a lot of education that goes on. I just came to believe based on everything I’d already experienced and what I was seeing on the YouTube channel. That that had to be the best and only way. And I couldn’t imagine why the only place it was available was in Florida but you get what you get.

Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: All good ideas start somewhere. Yeah, right. And then they have to spread. All right well, thank you for sharing your story. Is there anything else you want to tell your folks out there watching your testimonial?

Patient: I think when you start looking for a solution, you’re going to come to a spine surgeon or a neurosurgeon, and he’s going to look at your pictures and say, “You need a laminectomy.” When I heard that, I realized that my search was ending on that path because I did not want a laminectomy. I didn’t want any bone removed. I didn’t want any big scars. I didn’t want anything implanted in me. So that led me to a different kind of search, which led me to Deuk Spine.

Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: That’s right. And we did your surgery yesterday without any laminectomy. We did it through little cuts that big seven millimeters. And how are you feeling today?

Patient: My problem is cured.

Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: Congratulations. Thank you. Safe travels back to Ohio.

Patient: Thank you. You’re welcome.

Deuk Laser Disc Repair® at Deuk Spine Institute

This patient underwent the Deuk Laser Disc Repair® at Deuk Spine Institute for neurogenic claudication caused by spinal stenosis. A condition in which narrowing of the spinal canal compresses nerves and causes severe leg cramping, weakness, and back pain with prolonged standing or walking. Unlike the laminectomy recommended by other surgeons. Which involves removing bone, creating large incisions, and carrying significant complication risks. The Deuk Laser Disc Repair® was performed through a seven-millimeter incision with no bone removal, no hardware, no hospitalization, and no narcotic pain medication. Long-term use of NSAIDs for unresolved back pain had already caused serious gastrointestinal complications for this patient. Underscoring the importance of treating the true source rather than managing symptoms indefinitely. His problem was declared cured the morning after his outpatient procedure. Patients with neurogenic claudication, spinal stenosis, or back and leg pain who have been recommended laminectomy are encouraged to submit their MRI for a complimentary MRI review and virtual consultation with Dr. Deukmedjian at Deuk Spine Institute before proceeding.

Told You Need a Laminectomy for Back Pain?

He refused laminectomy and found a better answer for his back pain. Deuk Spine’s laser approach fixes stenosis without removing bone, implants, or big scars.
