Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: Now, you came here because you had a problem with your spine, and you’re willing to share your story and I appreciate that. I also know that you’re a father and a father-to-be, right? So your family’s back in Nicaragua. You traveled to Florida to have the Deuk Laser Disc Repair® done on your neck for two herniated discs. Patient: I feel good this morning. Some of the pain that I had in my arm is non-existent today, and my upper lower neck here. I don’t have any pain today. So I’m very happy with that.
Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: That’s awesome. And how long ago did you start having pain in your neck and arm?
Patient: Yeah, I started having symptoms of this pain actually over 10 plus years ago, and it started to affect just my life in general activities and also my work.
Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: Okay. And were you treated by other doctors and recommended for any other treatments or did people just kind of throw their hands up and not really have anything for you?
Patient: A lot of people just threw their hands up. They see sometimes that I’m a younger patient, and so it’s just different treatments or physical therapy over and over the same thing. But really I’ve never had any improvements.
Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: Yeah. So your herniations with the annular tears are not huge, and a lot of surgeons would just push you off because of that. But they were causing your symptoms and you made a choice to get that fixed, and you wanted it fixed right.
Patient: Correct. Yes.
