Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: Good morning. I’m Dr. Deukmedjian. I’m here with a patient who came to Deuk Spine Institute with back pain. He’s had it for many years. We performed the Deuk Laser Disc Repair®, the Deuk Piriformis Release®, and the Deuk Plasma Rhizotomy®. Why? Because he had more than one source of back pain. He had two discs that were damaged — L4-5 and L5-S1. We used the laser endoscopically to go in there and clean those tears and get rid of that disc pain. Patient: I’m feeling great. I’ve had back pain for at least five or six years. I’ve had back injections for the last three, and then they stopped working. This morning — it’s the first time I’ve got up out of bed and really wanted to attack life like I always have. It’s been, you know, a career of get up early, get things done. And as soon as the injections stopped working, I’d roll over at 5 or 6 in the morning and not want to get up because I knew I had to walk for three or four miles just so I could do things. So I’m feeling great.
Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: Why did you decide to come to Deuk Spine Institute?
Patient: I did a lot of research online and I liked your state-of-the-art methods. You got me in quick. I mean, I sent you an MRI online and I think I had an appointment within three days and had surgery within two weeks. Everybody else — it was six months.

Patient: Yeah. They can’t get fixed, but they get it treated.

I know your practice has a lot of people traveling in from out of town, so you make it easy. But even though I’m local, everybody was very quick, very responsive, very informed just an excellent experience.
Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: Thank you. What other treatments did you consider for your back?
Patient: I had just started looking at neurosurgeons after the injections didn’t work, so I wasn’t really sure what I could get done. But I was scared of any kind of invasive stuff. I would think I’d want to push it off as much as possible. So I didn’t really even know what all was available.
Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: And do you still have that back pain?
Patient: No. No back pain at all. Gone. It hurts a little bit from the procedure, but not any worse than it did and it feels different. It feels like it can heal now.

Patient: None. In fact, when I came out, they said, “Do you want pain medicine?” And I said, “Don’t need it.” Right after surgery.
