summary
A patient from Mississippi had been suffering for over two years with a large cervical disc herniation at C6-7 that left his left arm numb and weak, made it painful to turn his head, and interfered with what he called the “three S’s” — sitting, sleeping, and standing. Previously told he would need an ACDF fusion, he spent years searching for a non-surgical alternative before discovering Deuk Spine Institute. After undergoing the Deuk Laser Disc Repair® through a four-millimeter incision, he woke up with full feeling restored to his arm, recovered tricep strength, and pain-free neck mobility — describing himself as “dangerously good” and feeling ready to return to work the very same day.

Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: I’m Dr. Deukmedjian, CEO and founder of the Deuk Spine Institute. I’m here with one of my patients who traveled from Mississippi. He had a big disc herniation at C6-7, and his left arm was going numb and weak — problems with it. How long did you have problems with your herniated disc?
Patient: Over two years.
Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: We did the Deuk Laser Disc Repair®, which is our version of laser spine surgery here at Deuk Spine Institute. Did everything through a four-millimeter incision. How do you feel after your Deuk Laser Disc Repair® (DLDR)?
Patient: Feel amazing. I have the feeling back in my arm — spots that were numb. I could never open doors without railings. I couldn’t use my tricep very well. I can turn and move my head ways I couldn’t before, and it didn’t cause excruciating pain.
Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: So you’re happy?
Patient: Very happy.
Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: What are you going to tell everybody back home in Mississippi?
Patient: There’s magic going on down here. This is worth the way, worth the time, worth the effort versus everything else. Previously, they wanted me to do an ACDF fusion, and every time I looked at that, every time I think about that, I think of how bad that was going to be. I feel like I could go back to work right now. I like to call it dangerously good — like, I feel so good that I may have to remember that yeah, I just had surgery. Take it easy.
Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: Take it easy. Yeah. Now, what was life like for you at home before you came here to get your neck fixed?
Patient: Pretty terrible. I like to say that my neck pain was interfering with what I like to call the three S’s: sitting, sleeping, standing — which is pretty much everything. I would spend a lot of time laying in bed, using an ice pack, using that little thing you put to put tension on the pressure points in your back, your neck, and arm, hoping that would help, knowing it would not. Just trying to find any position that might be comfortable.
Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: How did you find Deuk Spine Institute?
Patient: I’ve been looking for many years for something that was not a fusion and not basic surgery, and I finally came across the Deuk Spine Institute information — which is what I’ve been waiting to find over the many years. I’ve had problems with my lower back since my 20s. I was able to get that fixed here today. I hope to come back and get that done.
Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: We’re going to fix that for you. So, did we have to shave any of your beard off for your surgery?
Patient: We did not.
Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: That’s right — we kept your beard for you. Show the audience your incision underneath there. So, a tiny little four-millimeter cut — no bleeding, no swelling, no problem. Back to normal today, doing awesome. How was your Zoom call with Deuk Spine Institute? Is there anything you want to tell your fans out there?
Patient: Just go ahead and do it. If you need to look a little farther, go ahead and do the MRI review — that’s going to give you the information you need. Because if you’re like me and you’ve done all the scans, you’ve gone to all the pain clinics, you’ve gone to all the PT, hoping that some magic will happen in PT — it gets a little bit better, then you aggravate it because you sat down wrong one day and made it worse. This is it. This is where it’s at.
Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: Well, thank you for sharing your story with our audience, and I hope that we can fix everyone’s spines just like we fixed yours.
Patient: I appreciate it. Yes, sir.
The Better Way: Deuk Laser Disc Repair® (DLDR)
This patient underwent the Deuk Laser Disc Repair® at Deuk Spine Institute for a large cervical disc herniation at C6-7 causing chronic neck pain, left arm numbness, arm weakness, and significantly restricted head mobility over more than two years. As an alternative to the ACDF cervical fusion he had been previously recommended, the Deuk Laser Disc Repair® was performed through a four-millimeter incision with no bleeding, no hospitalization, and no fusion hardware — restoring full arm sensation, tricep strength, and pain-free neck movement in a single outpatient visit. Patients can begin their journey with a complimentary MRI review and virtual consultation with Dr. Deukmedjian to determine if they are candidates for the Deuk Laser Disc Repair®.
