Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: I'm Dr. Ara Deukmedjian, the CEO and founder of Deuk Spine Institute and Deuk Joint Institute. I'm here with a patient and this marks a very special moment in the history of medicine. One of the most common causes of lower back pain is a tear in a muscle that's located deep in the buttock at the top of the buttock.
Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: It's called the piriformis muscle and they're very difficult to treat these tears. They cause severe pain, severe pain that this man can attest to. Treated normally with injections but the injections always wear off and then you're left with what else to do.
