I’m very happy I found Dr Deukmedjian’s Deuk Spine Institute. I live in Los Angeles, and while of course there are terrific doctors in LA, I could not find the type of ‘minimally invasive procedure’ to help address the 2 severely herniated discs in my neck—namely, disc laser surgery. The technology for minimally invasive disc surgery (and all its methods) exists and is performed all over the world. It’s heartbreaking to know so few do that here in the US. My Deuk Laser Disc Surgery was successful and I’m grateful for the tremendous support from Dr Deukmedjian and his staff during my time here in Melbourne, FL. Thanks so much, Rich. 9/17/24 Update: 6 weeks later feeling great, zero issues. Incision point (4mm) looks like a small freckle on my neck

The experience was outstanding, he (Dr. Duke) got my treatment approved in less than one month, and I have been working on it for over three years. I'm sure it was because of his expertise in this area. Since I connected with his team, they have treated me with the highest professionalism and care. The facility and technology are advanced and maintained at the highest level. Dr. Duke himself has been a gift sent to me from above. He immediately took a personal interest in my case, contacting my insurance directly to advocate on my behalf. The end resort has been, one after my procedure, I feel great. All I can say is thank you, Dr. Duke.

Dr Deukmedjian does an absolutely amazing job. He knows what causes back pain and has the knowledge and ability to eliminate the pain. His procedure is with a laser and a 4 mm incision. I was able to walk out of the surgery center after the procedure. I was also able to drive over 100 miles home the next day feeling better than when I drove to the center. If you want to eliminate your back pain, consult with Dr. Deukmedjian. He gives free MRI reviews. I would never agree with any fusion surgery. After 3 months of my body healing itself, I except to be playing golf again.

How A Facet Injury Causes Lower Back Pain (Facetogenic LBP)

Illustration of a spine highlighting a facet capsule tear.

Facet Capsule Tear

Traumatic injury to the lower back may result in a torn facet capsule. The torn facet capsule will not heal on its own. Over time, more capsule tears may occur with normal daily activities such as bending or twisting.

Facet Joint Capsule Inflammation

The body tries to repair the damaged capsule of the facet joint with inflammation, a natural process of destruction and rebuilding tissues. Natural movement of the facet joint disrupts the healing efforts of the body and leads to painful granulation scar tissue instead. Because the capsule never heals properly, inflammation never stops.

Facet Joint Arthropathy

An injured facet joint will wear down quickly and undergo structural changes commonly seen in joint arthritis. These changes include irregular enlargement of the bones and soft tissues around the joint, sclerosis of the bones, thinning of the cartilage on the joint surface, inflammation within and around the joint and capsule. Chronic inflammation will generate painful scar tissue and osteophytes at the injured facet joint(s).

Facetogenic Lower Back Pain

Facetogenic pain is localized to the specific injured facet joint(s). The source of facetogenic pain is inflammation within the torn joint capsule. Inflammation is a natural part of healing the bodies injured tissues. Proper healing of the facet capsule rarely occurs because our active lifestyles prevent it. With reinjury comes more inflammation and pain. The pain we experience comes from inflammation that never ends because proper healing never occurred. Facetogenic pain can last decades without proper treatment. The Deuk Plasma Rhizotomy’ is the best treatment available for Facetogenic back pain.
