Kentucky Patient: Back Pain Since 1997 Finally Gone

July 8, 2026

Suffering After Having An Artificial Disc Surgery?

Even with an artificial disc and decades of back pain, Deuk Spine Institute finds and treats every source of neck and back pain others have missed or avoided.

Summary

A patient from Kentucky had been living with chronic lower back pain since 1997, including a prior artificial disc placement in Germany and years of trigger point injections. With fusion repeatedly recommended but never pursued. After watching Dr. Deukmedjian’s surgical videos and patient testimonials online and educating himself on the available options, he traveled to Deuk Spine Institute with his wife for the Deuk Plasma Rhizotomy® targeting the facet joints at L4-5 and L5-S1 as well as the sacroiliac joint. The day after his outpatient procedure he reported that pain in the treated areas had dropped dramatically, muscle spasms had calmed significantly, and he required no narcotic pain medication. Describing it as the best he had felt in a very long time, with more procedures planned to address remaining sources of pain.

Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: Good morning. I’m Dr. Deukmedjian, CEO and founder of Deuk Spine Institute. I’m here with one of my patients who traveled from Kentucky. Yes, with your lovely wife. I’ve had a chance to spend the last three days with them. You had surgery yesterday on your lower back. And you can see in this video that we had an X-ray of his lower back. You had an artificial disc that was placed in Germany many years ago.

Patient: Yes.

Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: But you’ve been suffering with back pain since 1997.

Patient: Correct. Correct. Yeah.

Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: Do you still have that same back pain today?

Patient: Um, no. That area that was fixed, the L4 through S1, is much better now.

Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: You have more than what we fixed yesterday, and you’re going to come back and get the other stuff dealt with. But what we fixed yesterday. You feel it’s going to make a positive impact?

Patient: Absolutely. Absolutely. It’s much better than I’ve felt in a very long time. So I’m just looking forward to the healing.

Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: Yeah. You had the Deuk Plasma Rhizotomy®. We go in and basically destroy pain nerves that have one purpose: to cause pain. Those pain nerves went to your joints the L4-5, the L5-S1. I went in with our special probe and destroyed them, as well as your SI joint which was also painful for you for a long time. How do you feel today in those areas?

Patient: The pain has drastically dropped. I used to have a lot of spasms and stuff, but the spasms seem to new pain now, yeah.

Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: A different kind of pain that’s from the surgery, right? My surgery unfortunately does cause some pain. But you haven’t had to take narcotic painkillers, right?

Patient: That’s correct.

Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: So it’s not bad enough. The surgery pain isn’t bad enough, because it’s all done with four-millimeter incisions. Tiny. No hospitalization. Outpatient.

Patient: Yes.

Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: You guys are ready to head back home now?

Patient: Absolutely.

Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: And what other options did you have in terms of treating your back pain?

Patient: In the past they’ve done a lot of trigger point injections. They’ve wanted to do fusion to my back and some other things. But this seems to work much better than any of those other options I’ve been offered in the past.

Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: Why did you decide to come all the way here to Florida for Deuk Spine Institute?

Patient: I watched a lot of the videos. I saw how professional everything was and all the surgeries that you did. I watched all of those, the testimonials. People were getting results, so I wanted results too. So I came here.

Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: So you educated yourself, became knowledgeable in your options, and realized there was more out there than just pain management shots and fusion surgery.

Patient: Absolutely.

Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: Anything you want to say to your friends, family, and fans out there?

Patient: Well, I don’t have any fans, I don’t think. But I highly recommend it. If you’re having pain in your back, especially this is the place to come and get the surgery. You definitely won’t regret it. You’ll be happy.

Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: All right, well congratulations. And I know we’re going to see you again. We still have some work to do. Safe travels.

Patient: Thank you. All right. Thank you.
