Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: I'm Dr. Ara Deukmedjian. I'm here with one of my patients. And many of you asked, can we see a patient, you know, who's had your laser surgery, but several years later? Well, here she is. She's actually here for a totally different problem. She's here for something going on with her arm. I asked her, would you mind sharing that you had the laser surgery done five years ago, five years ago. So how are you doing with your back today?

Patient: Perfect. Perfect. Oh, happy, happy. Do everything I used to do. Still working out, doing P90, elliptical all the time. So, and very active all the time.

Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: Now, five years ago, we did your Deuk Laser Disc Repair procedure for your disc in your back. What was life like before your surgery five years ago?

Patient: I was very busy. I would never stop. As a matter of fact, when it happened, I had just gone to North Carolina and moved my daughter into an apartment. So I was lifting boxes, moving around, doing all sorts of things and never had a problem with my back. I had a strong body.

Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: Then you had the blowout, the herniation.

Patient: Yep.

Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: You came in with a walker.

Patient: With a walker. I couldn't walk. I couldn't stand straight up. And I had pain in my leg. Awful. Sleeping at night. Couldn't sleep at night.

Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: So you had the Deuk Laser Disc Repair done five years ago. And when did you notice the pain in your back and legs was gone?

Patient: The next day.

Patient: Excellent. I have no problems with my back at all. Every once in a while I think, oh, I better be careful just because. But yeah, it's excellent.

Patient: Yes.

Patient: Great. Perfect. Yes, I did avoid a hip replacement. I didn't want to do it. I fought against it. And you did it. You fixed it.

Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: You had arthritis in the hip. We did it about, what was it, about a year ago we did your hip?

Patient: It was probably two years after. So three years ago.

Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: Yeah. So we did her hip DPR. We did four little incisions, went in and destroyed four pain nerves to the hip. And now she has no more hip pain and no more back pain. She's doing fantastic. Except now she's got problems with her hands. So we're going to take care of that for you. Anything else you want to tell the audience about your experience at Deuk Spine Institute?

Patient: If you ever have any back problems whatsoever, you come to this man. He knows how to fix it and get it done and get it done right. And there's no, I have no wires. I don't have any steel plates. I don't have anything. I have nothing fused and I have very small pinprick in my back.

Dr. Ara Deukmedjian: And you were in the medical industry yourself when you worked. What did you do?

Patient: I was an MRI tech and I saw people come in after surgeries that were a mess, absolute mess. And that was the one thing when I hurt my back, I thought, I am not having open surgery. There's no way I need to, you know, and I searched and I searched, found a couple of different people that I found him online. And the point was he videotaped everything. And I thought, you know what, this is the man I want, because if he can videotape it and he's comfortable with that, I want this man to do my surgery. And I walked out that day and slow, but I walked out and been great ever since.
