Previous Live Spine Surgeries

Here are a few of our previous live spine surgeries you can watch in case we are not live.

About Our Live Spine Surgery

Deuk Spine Institute broadcasts new spine surgeries live every week. Live procedures are usually aired on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Keep up-to-date by bookmarking this page and checking our calendar. During the surgery viewers are welcome to ask questions in the chat box above, and Dr. Deuk or his staff will answer in real time. Contact us if you'd like to know more about our live surgery videos, or if it is outside of a live surgery time and the chat box is inactive. Viewers can also follow us on Facebook or Twitter for updates on upcoming live spine surgeries. All patients have consented to our live broadcast.

How We Film a Live Spine Surgery

Live surgeries are filmed with two cameras.

The overhead camera is a PTZ (pan, tilt, and zoom) camera with 1080p 60fps resolution.

Dr. Deuk wears a GoPro HERO5. The GoPro HERO5 is mounted on Dr. Deuk's headlight. It broadcasts at 1080p 60fps with the option to increase resolution to 4K 30FPS. This provides a unique, first-person view of the surgery, allowing viewers to immerse themselves in the experience. Our videos provide a better view than a traditional viewing gallery setting, and can be seen from anywhere with an Internet connection.

Our team monitors the surgery and chat from a separate control room, and are able to ask Dr. Deuk incoming questions in real time.

Live Surgery FAQ

Why should I watch a live spine surgery?
We recommend viewing to:

  • Curious patients wanting to learn more about their surgery options
  • Medical students, doctors, and healthcare professionals
  • Anyone with a desire to learn

We do warn that the videos are graphic, and may not be suitable for younger viewers or those who are not comfortable with this type of footage.

I would like to see a video of a certain type of surgery, can you help?
Our live surgery is broadcast via a closed YouTube video. If you are unable to make a viewing time or are searching for a certain type of procedure, please contact us by email or social media and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

The schedule said a procedure would be performed at a certain time, but the surgery video is not playing, what is wrong?
We attempt to provide a schedule as close as possible to when the procedure will begin. Preparing for surgery takes time, and sometimes our broadcast will begin before or after the scheduled time. Video should run as soon as the procedure begins. If you're still unable to view, you can try:

  • Refreshing the page
  • Asking us in the chat box above
  • Tweeting us on Twitter

If you miss a surgery, feel welcome to contact us and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
