This condition is characterized by pain and stiffness at the top of the shoulderblade where the levator scapulae muscles are attached. Pain can also be felt in the neck, over the top of the shoulders, and between the shoulderblades.
Symptoms other than pain include numbness, weakness, stiffness, muscle spasms, and swelling as well as a reduced range of movement.
